Writing tips for aspiring new writers

When it comes to writing, it all boils down to inspiration. Even writers with many years of experience sometimes come face to face with the same problem – at a certain point, they are stuck and have neither insights nor ideas when it comes to what they should write about.
And if you have just begun writing and the same happens to you, do not despair. It is all a part of the creative process and happens to even the best of the best.

Lucky for you, we have collected a few things that many writers use to get back into the groove of writing, and we are going to share them with you. Here are our four tips for aspiring, new writers.

1. Lose the distractions.

It goes without saying that you need complete privacy and lack of distraction in order to be productive because writing is not an easy task. Having that in mind, you should make sure to turn off your mobile phone, log out off social networks, silence your doorbell – and type away! This will help you retain your focus and stop you from being distracted and moving on to another activity which can make you lose your train of thought. Once you are done with you work, you are then free to pursue your favorite pastime activities: be it hiking, gaming, or playing sports.

2. Read. And then read some more.

This one is a no-brainer and is crucial for successful writing. You need to devour literary works by other writers to be able to produce quality content. Pay attention to how the most notable literary giants make use of vocabulary, style, metaphors, etc. Analyze the paragraphs you like and try to find out why they speak to you. Don’t shy away from finding fault in their works, as well – you need both good examples to follow and examples of the things you would like to avoid in your writing. Expand your literary horizons by reading all sorts of works – fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry, of course.

3. Keep a journal.

Sometimes there are too many ideas going through your head, and you are afraid you might forget half of them. That’s why having a journal around is more than handy. Write down everything that comes to mind – your thoughts on the latest news that you’ve just heard, your worries and dreams, an amusing conversation you overheard walking down the street. Practice writing a paragraph using one of those ideas by just letting your thoughts flow. Go back to the things you have written down sometime later, and maybe you will get an idea about what to write about with a fresher perspective. Practicing writing is of utmost importance in mastering this skill.

4. Spend time outdoors.

It is said that exposure to nature is not only good for your health but also your overall happiness and well-being. Feeling that you are a part of nature is beneficial both for our physical and mental health and spending time in the open air can have wonderful effects on you and improve your brain activity. If you feel bored or that you are stuck in a rut, going for a bike ride or a walking in the park can give you the energy and clarity you might need. You might even see something interesting that you can write about. Fresh air is maybe all you need to get those creative juices flowing.
